WELCOME

We are a vibrant Anglican church in Hartley Wintney committed to growing together as followers of Jesus, as well as to reaching out to the community around us and serving others further away.

We believe that the word of God is central and vital to all we do as a church. We also believe in the powerful work of the Holy Spirit.

We are privileged to have a lively and varied church life. Running through this life are two clear streams of church – traditional and contemporary. Both streams have a number of events to build relationship and equip worshippers throughout the year. We love and honour both congregations and enjoy the richness of community and family in each.

SERVICES

On Sunday we have two services.
Our Traditional service starts at 9.00am. There is Holy Communion every week with traditional music, a sermon and prayers. Refreshments are served at the end of this service.

Before our our Contemporary service that starts at 10:30am you are welcome to join us for coffee, tea and biscuits. The contemporary service has a more informal approach to worship, teaching and ministry. Running concurrently are programmes for children and young people up to 14 years old, plus a creche room for parents where they can watch the service on TV monitors with their baby. At this services we love to linger in times of worship and ministry. We always aim to open up the coffee shop as the service is coming to an end until 1.00pm.

LEADERSHIP

At St John’s we have an amazing group of people leading the church with Rev. Mark Tanner (centre, vicar), Carl Gardner (on right, church warden) and Andrew Marshall (on left, church warden) providing oversight.

VISION AND VALUES

Our vision and values underpin everything we do at St John’s. We want to be a church for the 21st Century doing all we can to build the Kingdom of God in Hartley Wintney and beyond.
Worship – in all our lives and in times of being together we put worship right at the heart of all we do as a church
Prayer – we know that nothing of value happens unless God is in it and so we hold firmly to the value of prayer in all we do
Relationship – we look to encourage and affirm each other in all we do because we know that we are better together
Discipleship – we look to equip and train leaders and worshippers for all that God has in store
Compassion – Jesus had compassion, so must we… this is a whole hearted and relevant approach to helping others in our community and around the world
