Share & Discuss
No question is out of bounds and in small groups you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish.
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, run over ten weeks. Alpha is run all around the globe – over 29 million people worldwide have experienced Alpha. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes, bars – and in the St John’s Church Centre in Hartley Wintney.
Every Alpha session at St John’s starts with food because it’s a great way to build community and to get to know each other. Then there’s a talk, usually around thirty minutes long, exploring the big issues around faith and unpacking the basics of Christianity.
Probably the most important part of any Alpha is the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas on the topic by discussing it in a small group. There is no obligation to say anything and there is nothing you can’t say (seriously). It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
Alpha is for everyone and we would love to welcome you onto our next course. You don’t have to come for the whole term – just pop along for the taster session and see what you think. We will have a relaxed breakfast and talk about ‘is there more to life than this?’ As well as hearing from people who have recently done alpha. If you think you want to come along, take a moment to sign up. However if you would like to chat more about Alpha with us then please send an email and we would love to help you get more information…
